Dr. Kim's research interests are primarily oriented towards corporate finance, business strategy, and service quality management in the hospitality industry. 

His research work has been published in numerous journals and books, including Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Research, International Journal of Hospitality Management, Business Strategy and the Environment, Tourism Economics, Service Industries Journal, International Journal of Tourism Research, Journal of Hospitality Financial Management, Progress in Tourism and Hospitality Research, Journal of Foodservice Business Research, Tourism and Hospitality Research: The Surrey Quarterly Review, Journal of Tourism and Leisure Research, Korean Journal of Hospitality and Tourism, Journal of Tourism Management Research, Northeast Asia Tourism Research, Korean Journal of Business Administration, International Journal of Tourism and Hospitality Research, and International Encyclopedia of Hospitality Management.

He is currently serving as an editorial board member and a reviewer for a number of academic journals, such as International Journal of Hospitality Management, Journal of Global Scholars of Marketing Science, Journal of Hospitality Marketing and Management, Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Korean Journal of Hospitality and Tourism.
