- 한국지구과학회
- 한국지구과학회의 발자취를 더듬어 보면, 초기에는 자연과학교육연구회의 지학분과로 출발하였으며, 1963년부터 지구과학 전공의 졸업생들이
배출되면서 현장 교육의 질적 향상과 친목 도모를 취지로 중·고등학교 교사 중심의 「지구과학교육연구회」를 창설하게 되었다. 이 연구회는 대학입시에
지구과학 교과를 필수 교과로 지정하는데 중추적 역할을 하였으며, 지구과학의 학문적인 발전과 교과교육으로서의 발전에도 공헌해왔다. 1979년
그간의 연구 결실을 가시화한 학회지 첫권의 발간을 기점으로 우리 나라 지구과학 및 효과적 교수법의 연구가 보다 본격화하게 되었고 1986년에
이르러 지금의 한국지구과학회로 개칭되면서 대내외에 명실상부한 학회다운 면모로써 우뚝 서게 되었다. 초기에는 학술지를 연 2회 발간하였으나 새로운
정보와 지식에 의한 연구작업에 박차가 더해짐에 따라 점차 연 3회, 4회로 늘렸고, 현재는 연 6회를 발간하기에 이르렀다.
- 한국지구물리탐사학회
- 사단법인 한국지구물리탐사학회는 산업자원부 산하단체로 석유, 광물 및 지하수 등의 지하자원 탐사분야뿐만 아니라 건설, 환경·방재분야에서도
점차 그 중요성이 부각되고 있는 지구물리탐사 및 이와 관련된 과학기술의 연구, 진흥 그리고 회원 상호간의 친목을 도모함으로써 국민 경제의
균형있는 발전에 기여하고자 1998년 5월 창립하였습니다. 매년 4회 학회지 "물리탐사"를 발행하고, 매년 봄에는 공동학술발표회를 가을에는 와
정기 심포지움을 개최하고 있으며, 기업부설 건설기술연구소, 자원연구소, 한국석유공사, 농업기반공사, 토목엔지니어링 회사 등 물리탐사와 관련한
2000년 7월 현재 303분의 회원이 활동하고 있습니다. 또한, 본 학회는 대외적으로 일본물리탐사학회(SEGJ)와 상호교류협정을 체결하였고,
SEG의 Associated Society로 가입하여 국내외 물리탐사 기술협력에도 이바지하고 있습니다.

- 본 학회는 지반공학에 관한 학술과 기술의 발전을 도모하고자 새로운 전문학회의 설립을 추진하여 오던 중 건교부장관의 설립 허가를 얻어
사단법인 한국지반공학회로 정식 발촉을 하게 되었다.

shared interests in our profession, plays a major role in strengthening
geoscience education, and strives to increase public awareness of the vital role
the geosciences play in mankind's use of resources and interaction with the

- ASEG - Australian Society of
Exploration Geophysicists:
- The ASEG is a non-profit company founded in 1970. Its aims are; to promote
the science of geophysics, and specifically exploration geophysics, throughout
Australia, and to foster fellowship and co-operation between geophysicists, and
to encourage closer understanding and co-operation with other earth scientists,
and to assist in the design and teaching of courses in geophysics and to sponsor
student sections where appropriate.

- CGU - Canadian Geophysical
Union
- The CGU began as a society dedicated to the scientific study of the solid
earth and has evolved into one that is concerned with all aspects of the
physical study of Earth and its space environment, including the Sun and solar
system. To express this broader vision of the geophysical sciences, the Union
has adopted a sectional structure that allows individual sections to function as
semi-autonomous entities.

Geological Society
- The Computer Oriented Geological Society (COGS) helps geologists using
computers in the geosciences. It conveys information of interest to all
geological disciplines, and provides a forum for individuals to share their
experiences with other geologists. COGS was founded in 1982 in Denver, Colorado,
USA, and worldwide membership has grown to more than 1000. All geologists
interested in learning more about using computers for technical purposes are
invited to join the society.
- CSEG - Canadian Society of
Explration Geophysicsts
- The mandate of the Canadian Society of Exploration Geophysists is to promote
the science of geophysics, especially as it applies to exploration, and to
promote fellowship and co-operation among those persons interested in
geophysical prospecting.
- CSPG - Canadian Society of
Petroleum Geologists
- The objectives of the CSPG are to promote the science of
geology, especially as it relates to petroleum and natural gas exploration and
exploitation, to foster the spirit of scientific research throughout its
membership, and to promote a public awareness of the need for professional and
well trained scientists.

- EAGE - European Association of
Geoscientists & Engineers
- The EAGE is a result of the merger of the European Association
of Exploration Geophysicists (EAEG) founded in 1951 and the European Association
of Petroleum Geoscientists & Engineers (EAPG) founded in 1989. The former
EAEG and EAPG have respectively become the Geophysical and the Petroleum
Division of the EAGE. The objectives of the Association shall be to promote the
application of geosciences and related engineering subjects, to foster the
communication, fellowship and cooperation between those working in, studying or
being otherwise interested in these fields.

professional non-profit society chartered in 1992. It's goal is to promote the
science of geophysics especially as it is applied to environmental and
engineering problems; to foster common scientific interests of geophysicists and
their colleagues in other related sciences and engineering; to maintain a high
professional standing among its members; and to promote fellowship and
cooperation among persons interested in the science.

- Established in 1888, The
Geological Society of America provides access to elements that
are essential to the professional growth of earth scientists at all levels of
expertise and from all sectors: academic, government, business, and industry.
- IAMG - International
Association for Mathematical Geology
- The aim of the IAMG is to promote international cooperation in
the application and use of mathematics in geological research and technology.

- ISOPE - International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineers
- The primary objectives of the Society
are:
- to advance at an international level the arts and sciences in and promote
and improve technological progress in the interdisciplinary fields of offshore,
ocean and polar engineering and related technologies through international
cooperation and participation;
- to disseminate scientific knowledge and provide
timely exchange of technical knowledge and information; and
- to provide opportunities through its programs for
interested individuals to maintain and improve their individual technical
competence in these fields, for the benefit of the public and the interested
engineers in these fields.

- Journal of
Applied Geophysics
- The Journal of Applied Geophysics is the continuation of the
journal Geoexploration, founded in 1965 by the Geoexploration Publishing Group
in Stokholm, originally for mining geophysics. The new title is designed to
reflect the widening scope of the applications of geophysics. To meet modern
needs, the Journal of Applied Geophysics places particular emphasis on
environmental, geotechnical, engineering and hydrological aspects, while at the
same time welcoming papers in traditional subjects such as mining and petroleum
geophysics. Petrophysics in its widest sense including soil and rock-mechanical
properties is another aspect that is covered by the Journal of Applied
Geophysics.
- MGLS- Mineral and
Geotechnical Logging Society
- Chapter-at-Large of the SPWLA. Membership in MGLS is open to
members of SPWLA and others who are employing borehole geophysical techniques in
endeavors related to mining, environmental, hydrologic, and other geotechnical
investigations.

- The SBGf was founded in 1978. The initial objective was
to congregate Brazilian geophysicists The SBGf publishes the Brazilian
Geophysical Journal which main objective is to divulge technical and scientific

Papers in Geodesy, Meteorology, Physical Oceanography and other correlated areas
are also accepted for publication.

oil and other minerals. Founded in 1959, SPWLA provides information services to
scientists in the petroleum and mineral industries, serves as a voice of shared
interests in our profession, plays a major role in strengthening petrophysical
education, and strives to increase the awareness of the role petrophysics has in
the Oil and Gas Industry and the scientific community.
