Bioinformatics(생명정보학)

개요 : 유전자 정보를 기반으로 질병을 예측하거나, 가계도를 추정할 수 있습니다. 최근들어 특정 질병을 유발하는 유전자를 인식하여 질병을 치료하고자 하는 생명정보학도 활발히 연구되고 있습니다.

Biostatistics(생물통계학)

개요 : 의학통계학은 임상실험 또는 신약을 개발해야 하는 제약회사에서 필수적으로 사용해야 하는 분야로서 해외에서는 이미 많은 통계학자들이 의학통계 분야에서 일하고 있으며 앞으로 국내에서도 인력 수요가 예상되고 있는 분야입니다. 특히 미국의 경우 FDA(Food Drug Administration)는 신약의 시판을 허가할 때 제약회사로부터 의학통계학에 근거한 임상 실험 결과를 제출하도록 요구하고 있습니다.

개요 : 최근 들어 데이타마이닝의 응용 분야는 금융, 제조, 생명공학 등으로 급속히 확대되고 있으며, 특히 미래에 관심이 있는 대상을 예측하는 모델을 개발하는데 주로 활용되고 있습니다. 예를 들어 보험청구가 사기인지 정상인지, 제품이 양품인지 불량품인지, 제품의 수요가 얼마일지, 환자의 콜레스테롤 수치가 얼마가 될 것인지, 어떤 사람이 특정 질병에 걸릴 확률은 얼마인지 등을 예측하는데 사용되고 있습니다.
